PUBLIC HEALTH INFORMATION -- This is a field within healthcare that focuses on the science and medical practice behind preventing and containing injury and illness.  Areas within Public Health include (click on item of interest):  Communications, Emergency management, Environmental health, Epidemiology and research, Medical practice, Mental health, Public health education, Public policy and administration; Health guides (i.e., smoking, vaccines, prenatal, etc.), and Resources.

Low Income Programs

Pets & Animals


CATS & KITTENS -- The Zimmer Foundation has been conducting a cat welfare program since 1998.  They sponsor three different programs:  (1) Cat Spay of Santa Fe; (2) Acute Veterinary Care Assistance Program; and a Veterinary Scholarship Program.  This wonderful nonprofit agency always welcomes donations, questions and applications for their service.  For more information and details on how to get involved, click to www.Zimmer-Foundation.org.

CODE RED EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT.  Socorro County has initiated a free system that will send you a message via telephone about anything critical that may be occurring that you should know about, i.e., evacuation notices, flood, etc.  In rural communities this can mean the difference between life and death, so take a minute to sign up!  The site is at www.socorrocounty.net and follow the link "CodeRED."

NEW MEXICO CHILE ADVERTISING ACT.  You can only advertise, describe, label or offer for sale a product that contains New Mexico chile if the peppers where grown in New Mexico.  To grow, sell or advertise it as New Mexico chile, a verification form (first button below) must be filled out and accompany each load of chile and be with that chile to the point of sale. If producing or selling processed chile products, a Processed Chile Verification form (second button) must be filled out for each product and sent to:
